Summary

The Royal Laboratory was a division of the Royal Arsenal in Woolwich, South London. It was established to conduct experiments to further Britain's might by advancing military technology.

Between 1872 and 1893 the Royal Laboratories produced Whitehead torpedoes for the Royal Navy. From 1893 production of the torpedoes was moved to the Royal Gun Factory, also a part of the Royal Arsenal at Woolwich.
