Summary

The Huascar was an ironclad coastal defence monitor commissioned by the Peruvian Navy and built by the Laird Brothers in Birkenhead.

She was ordered August 1864, launched on the 7th October 1865 and commissioned on the 8th November 1866.

The Huascar has been preserved and is one of the few operational examples of a ship of its class and time. It is now classified as a Museum Ship and up until 2010 was berthed at the port of Talcahuano, Chile.
