The second of Australia's Collins Class submarines HMAS Farncomb fired a Mk 48 war-shot torpedo at the former Destroyer Escort Torrens as part of the Collins trials. Although practice weapons are routinely fired and recovered, a war-shot was required to verify the totality of the weapon discharge and control systems.
