Abstract

'For most of the past 40 years, navies have seen the primary threat to surface ships coming from sea-skimming and high-diving anti-ship missiles. Their impact was first felt in October 1967 when the Israeli destroyer Elliat was sunk by an SS-N-2 'Styx' anti-ship missile fired from an Egyptian fast attack craft.'
