Abstract

"Mr. Donald McKay, the well-known American shipbuilder, is at present in this country, and is in close communication with the Admiralty on the subject of torpedoes. It is the intention, we understand, of the authorities to entertain seriously the question of having on hand a stock of these destructive missiles, with a view of laying them down in the event of war, in the different channels leading into our harbours, thus leaving our fleet to a great extent free to proceed to sea. - Army and Navy Gazette."
