Abstract

The rebuilt boat (length, 100ft.; beam, 12ft.) had a new system of propulsion consisting of a series of heavy steel tubes, the muzzles of which opened under water. The tubes were divided into a series of chambers filled with fuel gas and air. An electric spark was the used to ignite the gas air mixture in the tubes in rapid succession driving the boat forward.
