Abstract

The Times Naval correspondent writing from Constantinople was right in writing "…any one who attempts to write a history of the naval operations of this present war will find the collection of data no light task." Achmet Pasha provided the first solid evidence supporting the Turkish reports on the events at Batoum when he retuned to Constantinople with the two Whitehead torpedoes (Numbers 250 and 255) launched by the Russians against Hobart Pasha's division of ironclads.
