Abstract

The Thornycroft first-class torpedo boat No. 76, demolished a boom made up of six 12-inch square lengths of timber 30 to 40 feet long, placed in parallel about 8 feet apart. Although the rudder and propeller were protected, the boat was crippled, and sank when reversed off into deep water.
