Accession No.781

Abstract

The proposed appointment of Captain Harvey for a limited period on board H.M's gunnery ships Excellent and Cambridge to instruct officers and men in the use of his torpedo combined with a request for him to supply one large and two small torpedoes indicated that the British Government of 1870 was rapidly progressing towards accepting the Harvey Torpedo as an arm of naval warfare.
