Abstract

The Viper exceeded 35 knots during full-speed trials over the measured mile, and was for all practical purposes considered to be a 35-knot vessel. The Viper was easy to identify because of the girth of her funnels, the huge ventilators between them, and the mast that was very close in front of the fore funnel.
