Abstract

The four 30-knot Thornycroft destroyers Desperate, Fame, Foam, and Mallard after having done several years of good service were still capable of achieving speeds a few less knots than their original trial speeds. The engineering complement of each vessel was one engineer officer, four engine room artificers, including a chief, three leading stockers - two of them being first-class stockers - and twenty-seven ordinary stockers.
