Abstract

The Editor of The Engineer was of the opinion that far too much importance had been attached to mere speed in torpedo boats and torpedo boat destroyers and that if other things were equal the sacrifice of about one knot in speed would enable builders to protect the engines and boilers of torpedo boats and torpedo boat destroyers with hard steel armour half an inch thick.
