The twin-screw yacht Valiant (length 310 feet between perpendiculars, beam 39 feet 3 inches, depth 25 feet 6 inches; displacement 2400 tons) fitted with two 4,500 indicated horsepower (total) triple-expansion engines marine engines, built by Messrs. Laird Brothers for Mr. W. K. Vanderbilt, was launched in May 1893.
