Abstract

The most interesting incidents during the 1890 naval manoeuvres were those connected with the operations of the hostile torpedo boats. There had been a tendency in some quarters to belittle these attacks as being unlikely to be carried out in actual warfare, but after the naval manoeuvres of 1890 it was generally acknowledged that such attacks could be successful if they were well planned and executed.
