Abstract

The official trial of a large sea-going torpedo boat (length 100 feet, beam 12 feet 6 inches; displacement 45 tons) built by Yarrow and Co., Poplar, for the Dutch Government took place in late-November 1882, in the presence of Captain Bogaert, the Chief of Torpedo Department, and Captain Hudig, of the Ministry of Marine representing the Dutch Government. Mr Crohn represented Yarrow and Co. at the trial. The vessel attained a speed in excess of 21 knots, and the Dutch authorities expressed their complete satisfaction with the performance of the boat.
