Abstract

A torpedo boat (length 52 feet, beam 7 feet, draught 3 feet 6 inches; trial speed 16 miles per hour), with a steel hull divided into six watertight compartments. Designed by A J Betts, the torpedo engineer to the Chinese Government and built by Mr D J Lewin, Fulham, left London on board the Glenearn were it was transhipped to Tientsin. Armament, three spar torpedoes.
