Abstract

Torpedo boats No. 419 and 420 (length 85 feet, beam 11 feet), built by Yarrow and Co. of Poplar fitted with 420 horsepower engines operating at 400 revolutions per minute with steam supplied at 100 pounds per square inch achieved speeds of 19 knots whilst participating in a demonstration in the Solent. The Queen, the King and Queen of Denmark, the Prince and Princess of Wales, Princess Beatrice and Princess Thyra observed the proceedings from Osborne.
