Glossary Term Torpedo ram

Summary

A torpedo ram is a low-sailing boat equipped with torpedo tubes as well as a ram device, as a second line of defence.

HMS Polyphemus is one of the earliest examples of a torpedo ram fitted out to carry self-propelled torpedoes. Before the self-propelled torpedo had been perfected and manufactured, torpedo rams were mounted with spar torpedoes.
