Abstract

"Mauser-Werke Oberndorf Waffenststeme, a subsidiary of Rheinmetall, have completed live firing trials of the MLG 27mm lightweight naval gun mount at the WTD 71 test centre at Eckernforde in advance of the weapon's introduction to service with the German Navy.

According to Mauser, the MLG 27 is effective against small, manoeuvrable surface craft, helicopters and fixed-wing aircraft at ranges up to 2,500 metres. Its range against coastal point targets and larger surface vessel targets is in the order of 4,000 metres."
