Abstract

The United States Navy's submarine force was running at flank speed on multiple fronts. Submarines were making critical contributions to the Global War on Terror. The community was looking towards increasing the submarine construction rate in a few years. And war fighters were expanding the mission sets for both attack boats (SSNs) and Ohio-class convened boomers (SSGNs). Submarines were even getting into the anti-air warfare business.
