no. 64, March/April 2010, pp. 96-98

Accession No.3191

"Although it has been reported for a number of years that Australia is headed towards a paperless society, those involved in litigation wonder whether this will ever be so. Daily, within the criminal and civil jurisdictions, documents are tendered as evidence, even though the definition takes into account digitally saved information. This documentation may be challenged on various grounds to the point of it being excluded as evidence, which may lead to a case being withdrawn or, in a criminal matter, charges being downgraded. Documentation, therefore, plays an integral part in supporting a case outcome."
