Abstract

The Turks at Braila had received some Whitehead torpedoes and the necessary equipment for charging them with compressed air. However, like the Germans the Turks had found that the direction taken by a torpedo in a river was uncertain, and until torpedoes could be steered more efficiently they were greater danger to their users than the enemy.
