Abstract

In a prescient editorial the Editors of The Engineer drew their reader's attention to the fact that with the developments that had occurred in submarine warfare French journalists maintained that the English Channel could no longer be regarded as an important auxiliary to Great Britain's defences against foreign invasion, and that it may be the means of breaking up and ruining the sea power upon which Britannia prided itself.
