Abstract

The Editor's of The Engineer had from time to time recorded the advances that had been made in submarine warfare, and had described at some length the various stages that the Nordenfelt submarines had passed through up until the displays given in Southampton Water on the 19th and 20th of December 1887. They noted that after the works of the Barrow Shipbuilding Company had changed hands Thorsten Nordenfelt had become the director of a new company and it was believed Barrow would once again become the centre supplying submarines to half the world.
