Abstract

'The ever-present and evolving role of the Internet in our daily lives is mirrored by the ever-present and evolving threat of terrorism. As technology expands and evolves at exponential rates, the Internet continues to evolve in form and function, representing an omnipresent and pervasive web of communication and information. While the benefits of the Internet may be many, individuals and organizations with an agenda of terror and destruction motivated by ideology can easily exploit these strengths into weaknesses. This is especially so for future permutations or further evolution of the internet which will infiltrate even deeper into daily life, providing added means of exploitation for terrorists to facilitate their core objectives of recruitment, fund raising, radicalisation and destruction.'
