Abstract

'The Lords of the Admiralty have purchased for 20,000l. Great Horsea Island, situate in the upper reaches of Portsmouth harbour, and the work of constructing an extensive torpedo range is to be proceeded with immediately… It is proposed to excavate the whole of the mud in the vicinity, and so create a canal or range for torpedo practice, over 1,000 yards in length…'
