Schonheyder continues the debate regarding torpedo boat trials, replying to "Steam Jacket's" letter published in Engineering, vol. 30, 12 October 1880, p. 346: 'I beg to say, that instead of considering the steam jacket "generally almost useless," both theory and experience have long since taught me that it is a most essential adjunct to all steam engines that are required to work economically.'
