Abstract

A twin-screw steam launch constructed at Chatham Dockyard fitted two six-horse power (nominal) engines driving two screws each 2 feet in diameter with a pitch of 3 feet 6 inches revolving at 307 revolutions per minute achieved a mean speed of 8.239 knots during trials conducted over the measured mile at Saltpan Reach.
