Abstract

Phillip Braham's paper on his design for a "Torpedo Boat" presented at a meeting of the British Association in 1871. The torpedo consisted of a chamber filled with dynamite at the pointed end - a shaft of wood of any convenient length and a corrugated iron cap that as suitably weighted to make the torpedo or submarine rocket float nearly horizontally.
