"This invention has reference to improvements in torpedo boats, and its object is to provide means whereby the boat may be directed at night without being visible to the enemy. For this purpose there is provided a steering mechanism controllable from a distance, either from the shore or, if need be, from a vessel, with means rendered visible by the position of the steering mechanism for indicating to an observer the direction in which the boat is travelling."
