"a report from the UK's all-party House of Commons Defence Committee (HCDC) has urged government action to safeguard the critical skills and resources necessary to build a new generation of nuclear-powered ballistic-missile submarines (SSBNs). It has also expressed concern that the Ministry of Defence (MoD) lacks the critical engineering and project management skills to develop a successor to the current Vanguard-class SSBNs. Furthermore the report recommends that the MoD and industry reach rapid agreement on futur Astute-class nuclear-attack submarine (SSN) orders to ensure 'clarity and certainty' on the future submarine build programme."
