"France formally launched its new Barracuda nuclear attack submarine programme on 22 December by awarding a EUR 7.9 billion (USD 10.3 billion) contract to DCN to build six boats to enter service between 2017 and2027. The boats are to replace France's fleet of six smaller Rubis-class submarines, some of which have been in service for more than 20 years."
