Abstract

The new second-class torpedo boat No. 50 (length 60 feet, beam 8 feet 6 inches, freeboard 3 feet 6 inches; speed 17 knots) fitted with an inverted-vertical triple-expansion marine engine operating at 520 revolutions per minute on steam supplied at 160 pounds per square inch by a marine locomotive boiler, built Messrs. Yarrow and Co., for the British Government was armed with one deck mounted torpedo tube, and one, one inch Nordenfelt gun forward.
