Abstract

MM. Augustin Normand and Company, Havre, delivered two protected torpedo boats the Siroco and Mistral (length 147 feet 9 inches at the waterline, beam 16 feet 11 inches, draught 5 feet 2 inches; displacement 113 tons normal, 183 tons, full load) to Cherbourg for the French Government. The full-speed trials, which took place after the ordinary preliminary runs over the measured mile, were of four hours' duration, one hour of which was run at 22 knots, one hour at maximum speed, and the next two hours at 22 knots. The one-hour maximum speed for the Siroco was 28.341 knots and for the Mistral it was 28.341 knots. The contracted speed for both vessels was 26 knots.
