Abstract

Messrs. Yarrow and Company, Limited, tried oil as a fuel in the Dutch torpedo boat Ophir, with an immediate gain of about 2 knots in speed. It was also noted that most reconstructed French ships had increased their speed by one knot when they used oil as a fuel.
