Abstract

The official trial of the first-class torpedo boat Ophir built by Yarrow and Company, Limited, Poplar for the Dutch Government, was held on the 22nd of March 1901. The trial consisted of a three-hour full speed run at the mouth of the Thames. The mean speed maintained with a load of 30 tons, was 25.3 knots with an air pressure of 1.5 inches of water gauge in the stokehold.
