Abstract

The Clydebank destroyer Electra (length 214 feet overall, 215 feet between perpendiculars, beam 20 feet; draught 8 feet 3 inches) reached Portsmouth in mid-November 1899. The Electra was notable in that it was a three-funnelled vessel with a very large funnel amidships, which made it easily identifiable.
