Out of ninety-eight torpedo boat destroyers ordered sixty-two had been completed, with speeds ranging from 26 to 33 knots, the remainder had been delayed by the engineering crisis. A further order had been placed for an experimental vessel in which a steam turbine was to be installed to test the applicability of the system to high-speed torpedo vessels.
