The new sea-going torpedo boat, Chevalier (length 44 metres, beam 4.38 metres, displacement 118 tons; trial speed 27.22 knots), built by Normand of Havre was fitted with two triple-expansion engines, operating with steam supplied by two Du Temple boilers.
