Abstract

A small gun boat (length 60 feet, beam 9 feet; trial speed 20 knots) built Messrs. Yarrow and Co., Poplar, for an unnamed South American Government, was fitted with a triple-expansion marine engine operating at 642 revolutions per minute with steam supplied at 171 pounds per square inch by a water-tube boiler designed and patented by Alfred Yarrow.
