Abstract

A new first-class torpedo boat (length 135 feet overall, 130 feet between perpendiculars, beam 14 feet, draught 7 feet; trial speed 20.5 knots) built by Hanna, Donald and Wilson of Paisley, for the Indian government, was fitted with a 1,000 indicated horsepower inverted-vertical surface-condensing triple-expansion marine engine operating with steam supplied at 180 pounds per square inch by a marine locomotive boiler, was armed with five torpedo tubes one fitted in the bow, two attached to the forward conning tower, two attached to the aft conning tower, one three pounder gun, and several Nordenfelt guns.
