Abstract

Butler's Patents Engineering Company of Cardiff, manufactured a range of compound launch engines including a 5-inch by 10-inch by five and a half inch stroke; 14 and a half indicated horsepower inverted-vertical single-crank tandem-compound marine engine, and a 10-inch by 20-inch by 12-inch stroke; inverted-vertical single-crank tandem-compound marine engine. Both engines had an enclosed crankcase and splash lubrication and were capable of being assembled together as twin units with 90-degree cranks.
