Abstract

A number of yacht and launch engines were exhibited at the Edinburgh International Exhibition, these included: one 9-inch by 18-inch by 12-inch stroke inverted-vertical compound surface-condensing marine engine with slide valves of the Hackworth type built by Messrs. Hawrthorns and Co. of Leith, and two launch engines built by Messrs. Paul and Co. of Dumbarton; one a seven and a half inch by fifteen inch by 8 inch stroke inverted-vertical compound condensing marine engine and the other a single cylinder inverted-vertical marine engine.
